Course objectives
The course is focused on the analysis of current trends or issues dealt with in education in connection with teaching. It interconnects the theoretical and practical aspects of school education in a way that provides students with basic skills of solving practical questions related to teaching. The course also involves creative work of the students in the preparation and delivery of as well as reflection on their own microteaching, which is an irreplaceable source of the students’ development during their professional training.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to: b) apply the specialized knowledge gained in the preparation and delivery of their own pedagogy lessons, while being able to assess the effects of their own teaching e) present well-founded (reasoned, rational) decisions concerning the theory and practice of teaching pedagogy in upper secondary schools c) identify, critically assess and follow current trends in education and teaching g) analyse one’s own microteaching and transfer this ability into practice
Syllabus
  • 1. Analysis of current teaching: trends in teaching, quality of teaching, effectiveness of teaching. 2. Alternative methods in teaching: Constructivist teaching, cooperative teaching, project teaching, research-oriented teaching, inspiration through alternative education. 3. Possibilities of using ICT in current upper secondary schools. 4. Trends in school communication: Dialogic teaching, non-violent communication. 5. How to teach key competencies and cross-curricular topics. 6. Educational policy and its image in Czech school system. 7. Microteaching and its analysis.
