Course objectives

The beginnings of Roman literary creation - Roman prose; the application of Greek influence; Roman literature in the archaic and Ciceronian ages.

1. Úvod do dějin římské literatury, základní pojmy; 2. Nepragmatická historiografie archaického a Ciceronova období; 2. Pragmatická historiografie Ciceronova období; 3. Livius; 4. Tacitus; 5. historiografie tzv. úpadkového období; 6. -7. římská rétorika a řečnictví před Ciceronem; 8. Cicero; 9.
