Course objectives
Exercises and problems accompanying the course C4020 Advanced Physical Chemistry. The course objective is to develop quantitative skills for interpreting the behavior of matter by physical theories with an emphasis on the relationships between the microscopic structure and macroscopic properties of matter.
Learning outcomes
Students will be able to solve computational exercises from the fields of thermodynamics of mixtures, chemical kinetics, and electrochemistry. Additionally, they will be able to classify molecular orbitals in terms of symmetry and to couple electron configurations with possible electron terms.
Syllabus
  • Seminar topics follow the lecture program, clarifying lecture (C4020) material and giving the opportunity to develop a critical understanding of the themes and concepts.

Students alternate at the whiteboard in solving individual exercises. The rest of the class solves the tasks individually with the option of checking colleague's solution at the whiteboard. The teacher's role is to advise students in case of difficulties.
Assessment methods
Two test are written during the semestr. For a successful absolving of the course, 50% of points is required for each of the tests.

Course objectives
Exercises and problems accompanying the course C4020 Advanced Physical Chemistry. The course objective is to develop quantitative skills for interpreting the behavior of matter by physical theories with an emphasis on the relationships between the microscopic structure and macroscopic properties of matter.
Learning outcomes
Students will be able to solve computational exercises from the fields of thermodynamics of mixtures, chemical kinetics, and electrochemistry. Additionally, they will be able to classify molecular orbitals in terms of symmetry and to couple electron configurations with possible electron terms.

Teaching methods
Students alternate at the whiteboard in solving individual exercises. The rest of the class solves the tasks individually with the option of checking colleague's solution at the whiteboard. The teacher's role is to advise students in case of difficulties.
Assessment methods
Two test are written during the semestr. For a successful absolving of the course, 50% of points is required for each of the tests.

Seminar is based on cooperative learning activities by asking students to complete problem-solving tasks. Students work in group of 4 on each of 12 projects with a detailed printed form containing tasks and some support. Books, tables, notes, calculator, and laptops (web pages inside muni.cz only) are recommended to use. In addition twelve running optional home works (e-tests).
Assessment methods
Numbers of points achieved sum continuously, up to maximum 300, to build the order of all registered students and to decide the final credit assessment (160 points at least with no seminar below 8 points; each seminar below 8 points raises the minimum of 160 by 5 points).

Students work in group of 4 on each of 12 projects with a detailed printed form containing tasks and some support. Books, tables, notes, calculator, and notebooks (web pages inside muni.cz only) are recommended to use. In addition twelve running optional home works (e-tests).
Assessment methods
Numbers of points achieved sum continuously, up to maximum 300, to build the order of all registered students and to decide the final credit assessment (160 points at least with no seminar below 8 points; each seminar below 8 points raises the minimum of 160 by 5 points).

Course objectives
Exercises and problems accompanying the course C4020 Advanced Physical Chemistry. The course objective is to develop quantitative skills for interpreting the behavior of matter by physical theories with an emphasis on the relationships between the microscopic structure and macroscopic properties of matter.
Learning outcomes
Students will be able to solve computational exercises from the fields of thermodynamics of mixtures, chemical kinetics, and electrochemistry. Additionally, they will be able to classify molecular orbitals in terms of symmetry and to couple electron configurations with possible electron terms.

  • Seminar topics follow the lecture program, clarifying lecture (C4020) material and giving the opportunity to develop a critical understanding of the themes and concepts.

Teaching methods
Students alternate at the whiteboard in solving individual exercises. The rest of the class solves the tasks individually with the option of checking colleague's solution at the whiteboard. The teacher's role is to advise students in case of difficulties.
Assessment methods
Two test are written during the semestr. For a successful absolving of the course, 50% of points is required for each of the tests.

Teaching methods
Students alternate at the whiteboard in solving individual exercises. The rest of the class solves the tasks individually with the option of checking colleague's solution at the whiteboard. The teacher's role is to advise students in case of difficulties.
Assessment methods
Two test are written during the semestr. For a successful absolving of the course, 50% of points is required for each of the tests.

Course objectives
Exercises and problems accompanying the course C4020 Advanced Physical Chemistry. The course objective is to develop quantitative skills for interpreting the behavior of matter by physical theories with an emphasis on the relationships between the microscopic structure and macroscopic properties of matter.

Teaching methods
Seminar is based on cooperative learning activities by asking students to complete problem-solving tasks. Students work in group of 4 (exceptionally +/-1) on each of 12 (13) projects with a detailed printed form containing tasks and some support. Books, tables, notes, calculator, and notebooks (web pages inside muni.cz only) are recommended to use. In addition twelve running optional home works (e-tests).
Assessment methods
Numbers of points achieved sum continuously, up to maximum 300 (325), to build the order of all registered students and to decide the final credit assessment (160 points at least).

Individual electronic exercises may accompany the seminar. The points achieved (up to maximum 120) subjoin the seminar points.
