Course objectives
The aim of the course is to improve the students' knowledge of EAP and ESP on B1 level. Various geological topics will be used as tools for interaction and communication.
Learning outcomes
After completing this course the student will be able to:
understand authentic texts/lectures on Earth Science
identify the main ideas
formulate the main ideas
summarize a simple scientific/geologic text
interpret the information from the text/lecture
identify causes and effects
use terminology of the course topics;
define the terms of the course topics;
describe processes/cycles, sources of energy
compare and contrast using the proper terminology and academic vocabulary
discuss general and scientific topics
apply acquired skills in academic English to new topics
understand specific areas of basic grammar related to the level B1 (relative clauses, past and present tenses, expressing future, numerals)
