Course objectives
Can understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases aimed at the satisfaction of needs of a concrete type. Can introduce him/herself and others and can ask and answer questions about personal details such as where he/she lives, people he/she knows and things he/she has. Can interact in a simple way provided the other person talks slowly and clearly and is prepared to help.

  • Present simple, Modals (can, may, must)
  • Present continuous, Distinction between present simple and continuous
  • Past simple (regular and irregular verbs, modals)
  • Nouns I – plural, countables and uncoutables
  • Nouns II – quantifiers
  • Adjectives – comparative, superlative, Comparison (more … than, as … as, not so … as, the same … as, the most … of all)
  • Adverbs – formation (-ly), adverbs of frequency
  • Prepositions – time and place
  • Future simple
  • Going to, Distinction between going to and will
Assessment methods
Students are required to obtain 100 points in order to pass this credit course. 20 points for attendance, 30 points for completing course assignments and participation in the seminar, 20 points for a mid-term test and 30 points for an end-term test.
