- The course is intended for deaf learners who use Czech Sign Language. The registration is based on previous consultation and/or the results of a placement test taken at the Teiresias Centre/online.

- This course is intended for deaf learners who wish to improve their knowledge of the English language. In addition to consolidating and expanding grammar knowledge and vocabulary, reading and writing will be practised too.
The output level of this course is approximately A2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. - Syllabus
- LESSON 1
- vocabulary: countries and languages; common objects; days of the week and months; jobs; basic adjectives to describe people and objects; ordinal numbers
- grammar: present simple; pronouns; articles; adverbs of frequency
- writing: describing a person
- practical language: classroom language
- LESSON 2
- vocabulary: prepositions of time; verb phrases (have, go, get); leisure activities
- grammar: can/ can't, like / hate + -ing
- writing: my favourite day
- practical language: telling the time; writing the date
- LESSON 3
- vocabulary: past time expressions; word formation
- grammar: past simple - TO BE
- writing: writing about a famous person
- practical language: basic conversation phrases
- LESSON 4
- vocabulary: holidays; weather
- grammar: past simple, regular & irregular verbs
- practical language: Questions about the past + holidays
- LESSON 5
- vocabulary: prepositions of place, houses and furniture
- grammar: there is/are, there was/were
- writing: booking a hotel room
- practical language: describing your room; talking about weather
- LESSON 6
- vocabulary: town and city; verb phrases
- grammar: present continuous
- writing: writing a postcard

- End-of-course test. Learners must obtain at least 60% of the total number of points available in the end-of-course test.

A certificate of course completion can be issued if two conditions are met:
the learner misses no more than 3 classes (absences need to be communicated to the teacher in advance, whenever possible);
the learner successfully passed the end-of-course test (min. 60%).
Learners are encouraged to register conversation classes as well to boost their communication skills.
