Course objectives
Insurance Economics II (SDPO) The course Insurance Economics II is subsequent to the courses Insurance Industry in the 2nd semester and Insurance Economics I in the 3rd semester of the specialisation Finance. It will deal with the basic conditions of insurer s economic prosperity, and with economic management and creation of economic tools of insurance institution management. It will also survey the organisational structure of commercial insurance companies on certain levels of management, as well as the information system. The section dealing with the economy of an insurance company will explain the problems of composition and creation of technical reserves and funds, possibilities of financial allocation of technical reserves and the solvency of a commercial insurance company. Questions of the economic results of a commercial insurance company will also be explained, along with the making and analysis of a commercial and financial plan. Attention will also be paid to insurance economics of insurance institutions in selected EU countries. Examination: the exam is combined and consists of an obligatory written part and an optional oral part.
