Course objectives

The aim of the subject is to acquaint students with basic problems and concepts of philosophy. Special ephasis is placed on the selected problems of epistemology and philosophy of science.

Syllabus (in Czech)

• Filosofie jako specifická forma přístupu ke skutečnosti.
• Základní pojmy a problematika teorie poznání, ontologie, etiky.
• Redukcionismus, fyzikalismus. Argument inverzního spektra.
• Funkcionalismus, fyzikalismus, Turingův test.
• Solipsismus. "Brain in Vat" argument. Védanta, Kúmárila. Berkeley. Wittgenstein. Putnam.
• Filosofická problematika pojmů a čas, pohyb, změna. Hérakleitos, Parmenides, Zénón, Kant, McTaggart.
• Problémy determinismu, indeterminismu; fatalismus -- svobodná vůle. Demokritos, Aristoteles, stoicismus, Epikuros, Newcomb.
• Zlaté pravidlo morálky, kategorický imperativ, "volba za závojem nevědomosti". Konfucius, Kant, Rawls.
• Filosofická problematika pojmu pravda. Korespondenční, pragmatické, konvencionální a koherenční koncepce. Muo Ti, Protagoras, Aristoteles, Dewey, Tarski, Popper.
• Indukce, hypoteticko-deduktivní metoda, verifikacionismus, falzifikacionismus.
• Sofisma, paralogismus, logický klam, paradox, antinomie, Epimenides, jazyk a metajazyk, teorie logických typů. Sofisté, Aristoteles, Eubulides, Russell.
• Vznik logiky. Aristotelovská subjekt-predikátová logika, stoická výroková logika.
