Course objectives
The students should get the knowledge of the graphics devices and the special graphics architectures for rendering and global illumination. Based on the study of recent research papers, the seminar will concentrate on the algorithms which are imlemented in the inner layers of graphics architectures. The possibilities of parallel solutions and other theoretical and practical issues will be discusses.
Syllabus
  • Architecture of graphics controller. Components of graphics subsystem. Implemenation of fundamental algorithms on the lowest levels of graphics architectures. Parallel solution and effective combination with textures and antialiasing. Specialized parallel rendering architectures. Architectures for parallel and distributed global illumination. Devices for multisensual human-computer interaction. Haptic force feedback, stereographics, 3DOF and 6DOF tracking, data gloves. Workbenches, caves for immersive virtual reality. Students study research papers, prepare presenations and discuss specifific issues in context.
