Course objectives
The seminar focuses o studying the journalist legacy of Karel Čapek, divided according to individual genres. Students analyse selected texts, also with respect to their future practice. The seminar may also comprise other journalists from the circle of the inter-war "Lidové noviny" newspaper.
Syllabus
  • Analysis of individual genres of Čapek's journalism. These include columns, editorials, travelogues, causeries, essays, feuilletons, reviews, polemics, short reports, and short editorials.
