Course objectives
The seminar focuses o studying the journalist legacy of Karel Čapek, divided according to individual genres. The seminar may also comprise other journalists from the circle of the inter-war "Lidové noviny" newspaper. At the end of the course students should be able to: work with information on genres of Čapek´s journalism in future practice.
Syllabus
  • Analysis of individual genres of Čapek's journalism. These include columns, editorials, travelogues, causeries, essays, feuilletons, reviews, polemics, short reports, and short editorials.
