Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able to: characterize the expressive means of the audiovisual work; apply the rules of filming and editing; categorize the specific attributes of the audiovisual language in the different media; compare the features of historical and contemporary audiovisual production

  • Characteristics of expressive means of the audiovisual work.
  • Mutual influences, relationships and uniqueness of the formats.
  • Characteristic developmental stages and trends.
  • The constitution of film language, the gradual creation of the rules.
  • The concept of making shots.
  • The rules of editing.
  • The rules of shooting and using of sound and music.
  • The use of film language in the various genres.
  • Film speech before WW2.
  • Technical means.
  • Composition.
  • Image as a closed unit and image as an open-structured system.
  • Specifics of the audiovisual language in various media.
  • Theory of audiovisual language and movement.
  • Kinds of images.
  • Light as an artistic element.
