Course objectives
The aim of the course is the development of students' pedagogical skills. Participation in teaching means full participation in the teaching of the BA or MA programmes in media studies and journalism (see methods and assessment criteria). The student typically teaches topics related to his/her dissertation, learns to transfer his/her knowledge, and provides feedback to students. The course includes mentoring consultations to provide feedback to students on their pedagogical engagement.
This course is an optional extension over the compulsory course Participation in teaching, the credits include teaching beyond the compulsory course.
Learning outcomes
The course develops learning outcomes 4 and 6.
Syllabus
  • The course ends with a credit based on the student's participation in the B.A. or M.A. programs in Media Studies and Journalism. The credit is recorded by the course supervisor after consultation with the student's supervisor, or the supervisor of the course in which the student participated in teaching. For more information, see assessment methods below.

Assessment methods
Credit is awarded on the basis of the following criteria: only teaching outside the contractual relationship with the school can be recognised, whereby one credit awarded corresponds to 26 hours spent either on the teaching itself or on preparation for it (for each hour of teaching, one hour of preparation counts for a standard course, two hours of preparation for a new course), as well as correcting work, assessing students, giving feedback and consulting with them, consulting with a mentor or marking theses (one marking counts as 8 hours), or, if applicable, marking thesis work. Thesis supervision - all reported on the specified form in hours. Teaching assistance is counted only if it is of a pedagogical nature (consultation, feedback to students, correcting a term paper, etc.); the number of hours to be reported is then determined by the teacher of the course.
