- Course objectives
- The course is intended primarily for those interested in clinical psychology, especially neuropsychology. The course provides an insight into the clinical environment of the somatic departments of the Faculty Hospital Brno, to gain practical experience from contact with somatically ill patients during neurocognitive training, to acquire specific possibilities and methods of neurocognitive training, to actively cooperate with the psychologists at the Faculty Hospital Brno.
- Learning outcomes
- After completing the course, students will:
- have practical experience in providing care in a clinical context
- better able to empathically perceive the needs of clients and their experience in the situation of providing care. - Syllabus
- As part of the course, during the semester, students regularly visit the Brno Medical University, where they work with patients for whom neurocognitive training has been indicated by a psychologist, both inpatients and outpatients. These are mainly patients with cognitive problems ranging from subjective complaints, mild cognitive impairment to mild dementia, which are most often caused by neurological disease, craniotrauma or pseudodementia. The training is conducted for the purpose of strengthening cognitive functions or activating the patient. Neurocognitive training is implemented directly in the inpatient wards of the Brno General Hospital, or in the premises of the Department of Clinical Psychology within the premises of the Brno General Hospital. The students' activity takes place under the supervision of psychologists of the Department of Clinical Psychology of the Faculty Hospital in Brno
