Course objectives
The course Memory, Culture & Identity is an intensive ten day long summer school organized by the Sociology department. The course is designed for students in their MA and Ph.D. level of study who are interested in topics of collective and cultural memory, cultural sociology, museum practices, central European identity, nationalism, and culture. The aim of the course is to offer an intellectual space for students who would like to discuss their master thesis or phd project in an international environment with foreign experts from the field.
Syllabus
  • The course will be held during the last two weeks in June as an intensive programme - summer school. The course lasts ten days. The classes, seminars, discussions and workshops will be held by international experts on memory, cultural sociology, central European identity, nationalism, visuality, urbanity, museology.
  • The structure of the course:
  • 1. Presentations on theory
  • 2. Seminary discussions of master thesis and phd projects of participants
  • 3. Excursions - theory in practice
