Course objectives
The course aims to introduce questions in field of selected socially risky phenomena that can be encountered in the field of social policy and social work. Students are introduced to the basic biological, psychological, sociological and combined social deviant theories and specific social phenomena that represent risks for society or the individual.
Learning outcomes
These lectures and seminars lead students to (1) a sensitive perception of currently risky situations and actions of individuals and groups and to reflect the degree of seriousness of their occurrence; (2) identify state and non-state organizations intervening in these situations and their strategies, and (3) connect loaded theoretical knowledge with concrete situations and phenomena and be able to analyze the existence and causes of actually existing social risk phenomena in the field of social policy and social work.

Teaching methods
Reading, homework, group work.
Assessment methods
Students read prescribed literature continuously, write test in second half of semester and take an exam consisting from written part and oral presentation of group essay at the end of the course. The aim of the essay is to test ability of students to apply selected social deviant theory to particular social phenomenon, to work with available relevant literature and to comply with all the content and formal requirements of a academic text.
