Syllabus
  • 1. Antitrust law, its substance and impact 2. Economics of competition and competition policy 3. European Competition Policy 4. Art. 81/1 of the EC Treaty 5. Art 81/3 of the Treaty, block exemptions 6. Horizontal and vertical agreements restraining competition 7. Abuse of a dominant position - introduction, Art. 82 of the EC Treaty 8. Abuse of dominant position - exclusionary abuses and exploitative abuses 9. Mergers and acquisitions, introduction into the European control of concentration between undertakings 10. Assessment of mergers, substantive test, procedure 11. Czech competition law and competition policy, Czech Act on protection of economic competition 12. Intersection antitrust law / intellectual property law. Hi-tech and network industries and competition law. Globalization, liberalization and competition law.
Assessment methods (in Czech)
Lectures are held for a minimum of 5 students. With smaller number of students attending the course, lectures are replaced with tutorials. Reading list will be given by the course co-ordinator at the fist lecture or tutorial. The examination has a written and an oral part. Examination - credit requirements: 1. Semester paper 2. Written test comprising Yes/No(True/False) or multiple choice questions 3. Discussion on the semester paper
