Course objectives
The course deals with history of state and law in the Middle Europe. Its primary focus is the Czech Lands, but it is partially connected with the history of Slovakia, Hungary, Poland, Austria and Germany. The first part of the course is deals with constitutional and political development, the other focuses on development of various legal branches as demonstrated on selected institutes (form of entering into marriage, usucaption, etc.)

At the end of the course students should be able to:
Understand the specifics of the history of state and law in the Middle-European area
Comprehend the reflection of political and social changes in the legal regulation
To orientate themselves in the problematics of the minorities in the Middle Europe
Analyse the legal regulation and its real functioning in the historical point of view
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course, students will be able to
- Summarize the historical development of legal order in Central Europe from medieval times to the 20th century
- Compare the congruences and differences in the legal development in Czech republic, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Poland and Germany
- Indentify the reasons of different political and legal development
