- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to provide the students with the basic overview of Private International Law. The course will provide the analysis of: the concept and subject matter of Private International Law, sources of Private International Law and the way of resolving conflicts between types of sources, methods of regulation of private law relations with international element, selected institutes of general part of conflict law, conflict-of-laws regulation of selected issues and relations with international element (persons, contractual obligations, non-contractual obligations, rights in rem).
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of this course the students will be able: to understand the concept and subject matter of Private International Law; to know its sources; to understand the basic methods of regulation of private law relations with an international element; to apply these methods to simple cases of situations with an international element.
- Syllabus
- Concept and subject matter of Private International Law. Sources of Private International Law. Methods of regulation of private law relations with an international element (conflic-of-laws method, substantive regulation). Conflict-of-laws regulation of persons. Conflict-of-laws regulation of contractual and non-contractual relations. Conflict-of-laws regulation of rights in rem.
