Course objectives
The aim of the course is to extend knowledge of students in a dynamic area of agricultural law and to deepen their knowledge gained in other legal and also non-legal areas. The course is focused on the different legal aspects of farming as a business as well as multifunctional activity at the level of European and Czech legislation in relation to other areas, food safety, environment protection etc.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course students should be able:
- to have overview in legal regulations;
- to interpret and apply legal regulations by using the knowledge of a wider legal and scientific basis;
- to explain principles and institutes of agricultural law and policy in relation to other areas of law;
- to propose and explain answers to model examples.
Syllabus
  • Legal framework of farming.
  • Subjects of agricultural Law.
  • Legal relationships within farming. Registers of farmers and land.
  • Common Agricultural Policy - the legal basis, principles, objectives, links, instruments.
  • Legal aspects of sustainable agriculture. Soil protection. Nature and landscape protecion. Organic Farming.
  • Phytosanitary care.
  • Animal husbandry and veterinary care.
  • Safety and quality of agricultural products. Genetically modified organisms.
  • System of offical controls and state supervision within agriculture. Application of legal liability.
