Course objectives
The aim of this course is to provide the theoretical knowledge in the area copyright protection. The attention is paid to international, European and domestic copyright protection.
Learning outcomes
After the successful completion of this course the student should have the understanding of basic principles of copyright proctection and should be able to take the appropriate legal steps in the area of legal protection of intangible assets.

  • 1. International Copyright Protection 2. European Union Copyright Protection, Decisions of the CJEU 3. Basic notions of Copyright Protection (author`s work, authorship, moral rights, economic rights) 4. Copyright licences, Limitations of Copyright 5. Neighbouring rights (Rights of Performers), Collective Enforcement 6. Database Protection in the EU, Software Protection.

Teaching methods
Lectures are held for a minimum of 5 students. With a smaller number of students attending the course, lectures are replaced with tutorials. Further information is contained in the interactive syllabus.
Assessment methods
In order to obtain a positive grade, the student must cumulatively: (1) Actively participate in seminars (one absence allowed, preparation/ reading are anticipated. (2) Successful completion of selected courses with a certificate (under the Pan European Seal Program). (3) Give two presentations on two topics from the discussed topics.(4) Successfully pass the written test (60%).
