Course objectives
The aim of the course is to analyse the dimension of environmental protection and public administration incl. financial administration within the international and European regulation. The course focuses primarily on European Union law, including the case law of the Court of Justice of the European Union, but it also covers human rights protection under the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms and other international contractual and customary law. Particular attention is paid to the requirements for the performance of public administration and the measurement of individual public interests in planning and decision-making processes, the principles of environmental protection and the interpretation of key concepts based on superior legal regulation. The effects of EU law on national regulation are also an essential component.
Learning outcomes
After completion of the course the student will have detailed knowledge of the role of EU law and international law in the field of his dissertation topic and will be able to elaborate the comprehensive part of his dissertation thesis which relates to it. At the end of the course students should be able to understand the principles and principles of the EU environmental protection, to understand where and how they are applied at national level, to be able to find the necessary resources, to work with the case law of the Court of Justice and the ECtHR .
Syllabus
  • The particular content of the course can vary according to the focus of the dissertation thesis. Therefore it will depend on the individual arrangements between the student and the guarantor with the aim to elaborate complex part of the dissertation thesis, which the subject of this course is related to international law aspects. The assessment of the outcome will be provided by the guarantor and therefore, consultations with other experts are expected. The content of the course may be directed to - relation of the international and EU law to the disseration topic - the applicaton of principles of the EU and international law in the field related to the dissertation topic - mechanisms of international and EU law enforcement. - activities of international courts and of the Court of Justice of the European Union in relation to the disseration topic - human rights aspects of public administration and environmental protection.

Individual consultations with the guarantor and with other experts in the field of dissertatiuon thesis.
Assessment methods
The outcome of this course is assessed by the guarantor in compliance with the individual study plan.

Teacher's information
After the PGS registration, the student will contact the guarantor without any delay. The student will prepare the individual study plan (ISP) in relation to the topic and the content of his dissertation thesis.
