Syllabus
  • (sem.) Introductory test. The properties of single particles, mole and molar quantities.
  • (sem.) Concentration of solutions, basic laboratory calculations. Dissociation of weak and strong electrolytes, activity of ions, ionic strength, osmolality.
  • (labs) General safety measures. Volumetric ware, preparation of solutions.
  • (labs) Measuring pH values of solutions. Construction of titration curves.
  • (sem.) Protolytic reactions, pH of acid, base, and salt solutions, buffers, calculations.
  • (labs) Preparation of phosphate buffers. Titration of buffers, buffer capacity.
  • (sem.) Test (chemical calculations). Reaction kinetics, the law of chem. equilibrium. Energy in chemical reactions.
  • (labs) Alkalimetry. Acidimetry. Acidity of milk, alkalinity of tap and mineral water.
  • Selected ionic reactions.
  • (sem.) Chemical properties of characteristic groups of carbon compounds, Part 1.
  • (labs) Ions in tap water: contents of nitrates, nitrites, ammonium, calcium and magnesium ions.
  • (sem) Chemical properties of characteristic groups of carbon compounds, Part 2. Heterocyclic compounds and their derivatives.
  • (labs) Reactions of alcohols, phenols, and carbonyl compounds.
