Course objectives
Within the course students are getting acquainted with the position of psychiatry in medicine. They are getting knowledge about psychiatric disorders, their clinical manifestation, treatment and nursing. In the sphere of special psychiatry the most frequent psychiatric disorders and treatment methods (including biological treatmen) are presented. Emphasis is putting on principles of targeted communication with persons suffering from mental disorders both adults and children. The aim of study subject is to enlarge and deepen student´s knowledge.

  • Position oof psychiatry and organization of psychiatric care Importance of family in psychiatry Helpline and first aid in psychiatry Crisis intervention Psychosomatic medicine Psychiatric issues and other medical disciplines Psychotherapeutic approaches Biological treatment methods First contact with the patient and clinical interview Methods of examination in psychiatry Basic mental functions and their impairment (perception, thinking) Basic mental functions and their impairment (memory, intellect, mood and affect) Psychology and psychiatry Issues of old age psychiatry Issues of child psychiatry
