Course objectives
The main objectives of the course are:
- acquiring theoretical knowledge about major psychiatric disorders and psychoses
- acquiring theoretical knowledge about the influence of nutrition on the origin, development and course of treatment of psychiatric illnesses
- acquiring theoretical knowledge about metabolism, physical consequences and complications of eating disorders
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course the student will be able to:
- describe and suggest appropriate nutrition for the most common psychiatric disorders
- describe and recognize the main symptoms of eating disorders, ie mental anorexia and mental bulimia
- describe metabolism, physical symptoms and complications of eating disorders
- design a suitable diet for patients with food impairment

  • Alzheimer's Disease - Malnutrition Risks, Prevention of Malnutrition, Nutrition Specifics for Alzheimer's Disease
  • Influence of enteral nutrition on the nutritional and mental state of seniors
  • Dementia and Ethical Aspects of Nutritional Therapy
  • Serious physical consequences of eating disorders
  • Metabolism of uterine anorexia and bulimia
  • The most serious metabolic complications and methods of rehab
  • Serious conditions of malnutrition and consequent physical complications
  • The method of their treatment, including the refueling
  • Refeeding syndrome
  • Discrepancy between Clinical Status and Laboratory Findings of Severe Malnutrition in Eating Disorders
