- Course objectives
- The course is intended to provide basic information about medical laboratory sciences (Clinical Biochemistry, Clinical Hematology, Medical Microbiology, Medical Immunology, Pathological Anatomy, Immune-Hematology and Blood Transfusion Service) in clinical applications, used analytical methods and laboratory technique and instrumentation. The course should help the students to enter the follow-up Master's degree program of Bioanalytics and to complete it successfully.
- Learning outcomes
- Students will be able to understand basic concepts and their importance in medical laboratory sciences (Clinical Biochemistry, Clinical Hematology, Medical Microbiology, Medical Immunology, Pathological Anatomy, Immune-Hematology and Blood Transfusion Service), to successfully understand clinical-laboratory issues and deepen their knowledge in specialized courses MGKB071 (clinical biochemistry II ); MGKH071 (Clinical Hematology II); MBK071 (Clinical Microbiology II) ...
- Syllabus
- Clinical biochemistry: introduction to laboratory medicine; application of clinical biochemistry in medical and preventive care; principles of correct laboratory tests indication and laboratory results interpretation; laboratory screening; laboratory diagnostics of kidney, liver, gastrointestinal tract, heart, lung, CNS diseases. Analytical methods and laboratory instrumentation technique: spectrophotometry, atomic absorption / emission spectrometry, nephelometry, turbidimetry, immunochemical methods, chemiluminescence, separation techniques (ELFO, HPLC, GC), ELISA, osmometry, ion selective electrodes and electrochemical methods. Department of Pathology: Histological tissue examination: bioptic and autoptic samples, tissue processing, fixation, dehydration, embedding, sectioning and picking sections up. Histological staining and variety of dyes, interaction mechanism between tissue and dye, routine stain, special stain. Enzyme histochemistry, types of histochemical stains methods. Cytopathology, types of specimen collection, sample processing. Immunohistological and molecular pathology used in the diagnosis of disease.
