Course objectives
559/5000 The structure of the degree programme presumes, that its graduates will be employed as healthcare workers. Therefore, the course also reflects the requirement of Decree No. 39/2005. Sb. laying down minimum requirements for study programs for the acquisition of professional qualification for the performance of a non-medical medical profession. The aim of the course is to acquaint graduates with the legal relationships of health care provision, ethics of the health profession, the legal framework of communication with the patient and the legal context of organization and management of health care in the Czech Republic.
Learning outcomes
Student knows: - Patient's rights - Obligations of the healthcare provider and the duties of a healthcare professional - - The legal framework regulating patient hospitalization and the provision of health services in an outpatient setting - The role of public authorities that exercise their responsibilities in the field of health - Rules regulating patients privacy and data protection - Basic ethical principles in healthcare and ethical rules of a healthcare professional
Syllabus
  • Relationship between law, ethics and medicine. Creation and system of legal norms. Legal Consciousness Basic legal standards for the provision of health services. Specific health services. Legal status of a citizen (patient) in healthcare. Rights and obligations of the patient. Privacy of the patient. Authenticity and impropriety. The legal position of the healthcare provider and the status of the health worker. Labor relations: labor discipline, labor disputes, health and safety at work, special working conditions of women and adolescents. Labor law responsibility. Eligibility for the exercise of the medical profession. Employee management tools. Administrative management in the health sector. Public authorities operating in the field of health. Financing healthcare. Handling of medical records.

Teaching methods
The course will consist of series of lectures, followed by self study and exam.
Assessment methods
Final written test consists of 9 questions, some questions are in the form of "multiple choice test" (6x) and some are "open" (3x), where student responds with a few sentences. For an open question, a student can recieve up to 3 points, maximum is 15 points. Grading scale 15-14 points A 13-12 points B 11 points C 10 points D 9 points E
