- Course objectives
- After ending this course the nutritional therapist should: - have a logical approach to problem solving from biochemical point of view - judge of impact the given composition and quantum of food in a healthy person - understand the changes in metabolism in some diseases/disorders - help with a suggestion of nutrients intake throughout the different life stages (such as pregnancy, childhood, the middle years, menopause, old age and also sport and leisure time activities, ...) - combat the abundance intake of energy according to nutritional habits - assess the dietary „advices“ and diets „systems“ very popular with some magazines - know main necessities of nutrition in disease prevention and patient care
- Syllabus
- Xenobiochemistry and pharmacobiochemistry. Gastrointestinal hormones. Enzymes of gastrointestinal tract. Biochemical diagnostic in pancreatic disorders. Gut resorption, malabsorption. Maldigestion. Laboratory diagnostic of dysfunction of gastrointestinal tract. The nutritional assessment of organism. Basic principles of enteral and parenteral nutrition. Saccharides, amino acids, proteins and lipids in enteral and parenteral nutrition.
