The main aim of the subject is to provide students with sufficient basic knowledge and information about drugs used in the treatment of selected most important diseases that radiologic assistants may encounter in clinical practice.

The subaims are:
- to familiarize students with general principles of drug effects and drug processing in the organism
- to introduce several drug groups building on the knowledge of general pharmacological principles.
Learning outcomes
On completion of the course, the student will be able to:
- describe and explain general mechanisms of drug action and their processing in the organism,
- characterize different routes of drug administration,
- describe, what could influence an effect of a drug
- describe the process of research and development of a new therapeutic agent from the beginning to entering the clinical practice
- classify both therapeutic, and adverse or toxic effects of drugs
- characterize specific drug groups mentioned in the course syllabus with the emphasis on therapeutic and adverse effects and possible drug interactions
