Course objectives
The course aims to provide students with clear information on the operations of businesses, focusing on specifics of service stores. Attention is devoted to the analysis of enterprise operations, through analysis of the enterprise functions, both in terms of organization (departmental and process-based approach), and in terms of material equipment. The issue relates to finance and financial management. Therefore questions of corporate financing, investment evaluation and comprehensive evaluation of their financial situation are discussed.

Knowledge: theoretical anchoring of corporate functions and corporate finance with application in various organisations
Skills: implementation of approaches to corporate functions and corporate finance at practial business examples
Attitudes: awareness of complexity of activities taking place in a wide range of organizations
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, students will be able to analyze function of enterprise in wide variety of organisations and connect them with the financial situacion of the organisation.
Syllabus
  • 1) Basic concepts of enterprise, business functions, business economics.
  • 2) Services as an intangible product and its classification.
  • 3) The financial statements of the enterprise and their importance.
  • 4) Horizontal and vertical analysis of enterprise financial and operating leverage, breakeven point analysis.
  • 5) Ratios and comprehensive evaluation of the financial situation.
  • 6) Production and its specifics with regard to the provision of services.
  • 7) Warehouse management, inventory and finance.
  • 8) Sales – product, price, communication and distribution policy.
  • 9) Human resources, productivity and personnel costs.
  • 10) Business financing.
  • 11) Investment and investment evaluation.
  • 12) Corporate governance and the relationship between the owner and management.

Teaching methods
The course is designed in the form of lectures, discussions and thematic examples and separately processed analysis project of chosen business functions linked to corporate finance.
Assessment methods
The course is completed on the basis of the evaluation of a semester project. Part of the evaluation of the semester project is also the mutual evaluation of students through the application in IS.
