Course objectives
The aim is to study the issue and the scientific field of speech therapy, introduces students to the principles of communication and ontogenesis of children's speech. In the course will present key findings of individual forms of communication disorders.
Learning outcomes
• orientation in contemporary conception of speech therapy;
• An overview of communication and communication ability;
• basic knowledge of the various forms of communication capabilities.
Syllabus
  • The concept and care system of speech therapy in the Czech Republic, interdisciplinary cooperation. Speech therapist, speech therapy assistant - qualification and personality requirements. Current legislation and historical development of care for persons with CKD.
  • Process of human communication, characteristic, meaning. Verbal communication, non-verbal communication. Definition of language levels. Impaired communication ability - definition, different divisions and classification.
  • Speech therapy intervention – definition of individual areas and special pedagogical diagnosis of speech therapy – goal, methods, principles of diagnosis. Model of speech therapy examination.
  • Ontogeny of speech and language abilities. Factors influencing speech and language development abilities. Deficits in the development of speech and language skills in children.
  • Phonetics, subject of phonetics research, basic elements of spoken language. System of Czech vowels, creating individual sounds.
  • Anatomy and physiology of speech organs - respiratory, phonation, articulatory system.
  • Dyslalia - etiology, classification, diagnosis, principles of speech therapy. Methods of deriving individual sounds.
