Course objectives
The course objective is to equip students with a deeper insight into the world context of the literature for children and youth so that they will be able to perceive the complexity of changes which the contemporary literature for children and youth undergoes. Another course objective for the students is the ability to identify and analyse the style of outstanding personalities in youth literature.

  • - to formulate criteria of assessment - a joint interpretational analysis based on students’own reading - synthesis of the conclusions of their analysis

Teaching methods
In the form of a seminar, students will get a broader knowledge of literature for young adults in the given period. They will be able to identify and analyze the style of outstanding personalities. They will further develop their literary knowledge and interpretational skills with the aim to communicate with a literary work more effectively. They will creatively use their knowledge gained not only in contact classes but also in their individual study of recommended literature which they will be able to discuss regularly with their teacher.
Assessment methods
Requirements: individual reading and joint analysis of selected literary pieces from the field of world and Czech literature for children and youth (following the schedule announced in the first week of the term)
