Course objectives
After completing this seminar the students are able to interpret differences in pronunciation between German and Czech vowels and diphthongs and characterize typical pronunciation mistakes made by Czech native speakers.
Syllabus
  • 1. Pronunciation practice of German vowels and diphthongs with stress on phonemes missing in Czech 2. German stress 3. Reduction in German pronunciation 4. Work on vocabulary and grammar from the phonetic point of view 5. Leading and complementing of a phonetic lexicon

Teaching methods
Seminar; pronunciation practice of German vowels and diphthongs. Specific part of this education is creating of an own phonetic vocabulary. Homework, active independent study.
Assessment methods
Fulfilling requirements; the students are supposed to read a short German text with emphasis on correct German pronunciation.
