Course objectives
The literature of the Church Slavonic. The mission of Constant and Method. Church Slavonic literature in the Czech. Cloister of Emausy. Fundamental phonology and morphology changes during the development the Proto-Slavonic language. Phonology and morphology changes as a moment of separating of the Slavic languages (Czech, Slovak, Polish, Russian). The grammatical system of the Church Slavonic. Application of the theoretical knowledge by reading the texts of the Church Slavonic.
Syllabus
  • 1. The literature and culture of the Church Slavonic. 2. Development of the phonological and morphological system of Church Slavonic and Proto-Slavonic compare to the Indo-European proto-language and to the contemporary Slavic languages. 3. Grammatical system of the Church Slavonic. 4. Reading of the Church Slavonic texts written by Cyrillic and their translation. 5. Phonological and morphological analysis of the Church Slavonic texts.
