Course objectives
This course will examine theories and techniques for teaching English as a foreign language to learners with specific learning disabilities. Information, resources and examples of teaching methods will be provided. Students will work with methods and materials that are useful for integrated language-learning classes.
Syllabus
  • This class meets twice at the faculty. Other work will be done individually using distance technology. The course will include exercises, lecture, group activities and a dialogue forum. Students will complete an annotated bibliography. Articles will be posted on Moodle for required reading. COURSE OBJECTIVES 1. To provide an overview of special educational theories and teaching methods 2. To develop an accessible resource base of literature and materials 3. To give students an opportunity to synthesize American and Czech practices in working with this specific population of learners 4. To allow students to use English communication in one-to-one, small group and whole class situations while discussing pedagogical practices.

Attendance is required at both sessions (October and December). Students will also be required to participate in on-line forum and complete all assignments.
