Course objectives
The aim of this subject is to get the basic knowledge of German phonetics and phonology. The difference between Czech and German pronunciation is stressed, as well as the methodology of avoiding the typical pronunciation mistakes of Czech native speakers.
Syllabus
  • 1. Phonetics and phonology and their importance for learners 2. Voice formation 3. Classification of phones 4. German vowels 5. German diphthongs 6. German consonants 7. Assimilation 8. Phone, word, sentence 9. Quantity, stress, intonation 10. Typical pronunciation mistakes of Czech native speakers Lecture, compulsory subject, credit: Theory of basic topics of this subject. Credit: short oral exam one of ten topics.
