- Course objectives
- Development of proper Russian pronunciation on single words and in short texts, introduction to transcription. Special focus is given to accent. Pronunciation, rhythmical elements, pronunciation of before-voiced and after-voiced A, O, transcription of weak and strong sounds, voiced and unvoiced sounds. Reading of short texts. Rhythm and melody.
- Syllabus
- 1. Pronunciation. Basic rhythmical units. Training of rhythm. 2. Pronunciation of unstressed vowels A, O and their transcription. Reduction. 3. Bases of transcription of ja, jo, ju, je. 4. Transcription of strong and weak (stressed and unstressed) forms. 5. Pronunciation of hard consonants ž, š, c. 6. Pronunciation of soft consonants č, šč. Short texts reading, rhythm and melody training.

- Teaching methods
- Student must actively participate in the class, prepare regulary home assignments. Reading and listening russian texts.
- Assessment methods
- The course finishes with a credit, which consists of both oral and written part. The written part – the test (transcription, intonation). The oral part – short texts reading, poems recitation. The correct pronunciation and intonation is evaluated.
