Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able: 1. to understand of the fundamental principles of the contemporary Czech orthography; 2. the students shall intensify their knowledge of the orthography; 3. to explain especially of some orthography difficulties.
Syllabus
  • 1. Principles of the Czech orthography.
  • 2. Components of the Czech orthography - lexical, morphological and syntactical.
  • 3. Lexical orthography: prefix s-, z-, consonantgroups, letter "ě" in connection with "b", "p", "v", "f", "m", capital letters; orthography of the "second-hand" words.
  • 4. Morphological orthography; some difficult forms of the declinable words.
  • 5. Orthography in syntax, punctuation. Congruence of the subject and predicate.

Teaching methods
seminar: problem method, controlled discussion.
Assessment methods
The subject is ended by a credit. Compulsory attendance. Homework is required in the course of the term. Final written test consists of 20 questions evaluated by 20 points. Each student has to reach minimum 18 points to pass the test.
