Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able to understand the notion of beauty and its functioning from the axiological point of view, the music aesthetics, art theory and the visual and music art in the context of its development.
Syllabus
  • The issue of beauty in the context of historical development of art.
  • Beauty as a axiologic category.
  • Problems of pseudo-values, the specificities of mass culture.
  • The development of the theory of art.
  • The relationship of aesthetics and art theory.
  • Overview of the development of aesthetics in the light of the philosophy of art.
  • Specificity aesthetics of music and visual arts.

Teaching methods
Theoretical preparation, class discussion, comparative analysis.
Assessment methods
Credit. Semester paper on negotiated topic from the range of specific aesthetic or art problems (10-15 pages). The paper is based on the requirements of doctoral thesis of the student.
