Course objectives
Annotation: The subject is framed as one semestral project ended by realization of Forum Theatre with chosen aim group. Forum Theatre deals with problematic topics (e.g. bullying, smoking, absenteeism…) and its solvation. Students are introduced to different kinds of exercises, techniques and plays, that are used by this type of theatre. With the help of theese techniques they work in smaller groups on choosen topic. They create a short theatre story and screenplay with bed end. Then they offer this end and they play in front of the chosen aim group, which task is to help the main hero of the story.. Froum Theatre leads the viewer to the awareness that everyone has a possibility to influent and to at least slightly change the events around us and in the real life too. Students focus on the reflection of their own experience comes out from proces of creation forum theatre performance as a means of education and reflection on experience as a means of education for spectactors in forum theatre. At the end of the course, the students will be able to: Define the terms of the theatre of suppressed. Describe the goals of the theatre of suppressed. Compare the local and international attitudes to the theatre “forum”. Describe the importance of experience (or experience obtained on the basis of the arts, creativity and specialy drama) for education. Constitute a performance of the theatre “forum”. Plan a workshop of the theatre “forum”. Apply a performance and a workshop of the theatre “forum”.

  • Pedagogy of the oppressed. Theatre of the oppressed in Czech republic and abroad. Forum Theatre. The role of the joker in forum theatre. Creativ proces as a means of taking knowledges. Experience as a means of education. Experience and dramatics arts as a means of education. Plays, exercises and techniques used in theatre of the oppressed. Choise of problem topic. Dramaturgy of the forum theatre performance. Creation of the story and construction of the frame screenplay. s Realization of forum theatre with the target group. Reflection and evaluation.
