Course objectives
Purposes of this course is to obtain theoretical knowledge in psychology of primary school children from the cognitive and developmental point of view. Theoretical attainment concerning psychological components of professional teacher´s competence in primary school. At the end of this course student should be able to:
- describe and explaine basic concepts from the field of cognitive and developmental psychology
- define changes in psychic child development
- apply knowledge of cognitive and developmental psychology in school practice

  • 1. Perception, sensation, atention.
  • 2. Motivation.
  • 3. Learning a nad memmory.
  • 4. Thinking and talking.
  • 5. Cognitive development.
  • 6. Problem solving and creativity.
  • 7. The factors of mental development and governing principles. The interaction of the social environment, education and genetics.
  • 8. Psychological development in early childhood.
  • 9. Preschool age.
  • 10. Changes in psychological development in primary school age.
  • 11. Period of puberty and adolescence.
  • 12. Psychological changes in aduldhood.
  • 13. Application of cognitive and developmental psychology in school practice.
