Course objectives
At the end of this course, students should be able to:
distinquish local, acute, chronic and late effects of substances and know their testing
know about the interactions of substances with living organism and biotransformation of xenobiotics
overmaster the survey of inorganic and organic compounds toxicology
take ones bearings in methods of ecotoxicological testing and evaluation of chemicals and wastes
take ones bearings in Chemical substances and hazardous wastes laws and regulations
take ones bearings in classification and notification of chemical substances and products under EU and Czech legislation
be acquainted with maximal allowable concentrations of gases, vapours, and aerosols in the air, permissible levels of water and food contaminants
be acquainted with explosives, oxidizing and flammable substances
overmaster principles of occupational health and safety, protective devices, first aid treatment
be acquainted with sources of toxicological and ecotoxicological information.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course the student will be able to: recognize the local, acute, chronic and late effects of the substances and know their testing, to understand the interactions of pollutants with the living organisms and the biotransformation of xenobiotics, to control the toxicology of toxicologically most important inorganic and organic substances, to orientate in methods of ecotoxicological testing assessment of substances and wastes, knowledge of chemicals and hazardous waste legislation, knowledge of the classification of chemicals and preparations according to EU and CR regulations, know maximum permissible concentrations of gases, vapors and aerosols in the air, permissible limits for pollutants in water and foodstuffs, and to focus on occupational safety and health, protective equipment, first aid procedures, know sources of toxicological and ecotoxicological information.
