Course objectives
At the end of this course, student is able to: dominate terminology necessary for syntax analysis of sentences; understand the structure of clauses and sentences based on the relation of syntax and morphology; demonstrate procedures used in syntax analysis; define types of sentences; reproduce sentence membres and word order; analyse typology of utterance.
Syllabus
  • Proposal and sentence. Species of proposals. Procedures used in syntax analysis: parts of the speech and their functions as members of the proposal. Proposals for one or two term(s). Order of words in sentence. Simple inversion and complex inversion of the subject. Omission of subject. Coordinated proposal phrases (juxtaposition, coordination). Subordinate proposal phrases (subordination). Species of subordinate proposals. Completive subordinate clauses. Related subordinate proposals.
