Course objectives
The course focuses on case work which is the most commonly used method in social work. The course will explain basic principles of work with individual clients and phases of this counselling process. The crucial parts are assessment, planning and goal setting. Furthermore, the course will focus on cooperation and resources in the person’s environment. The participants will be introduced to methods of social assessment and will apply those to their own cases. Finally, the course will briefly introduce other methods of social assessment.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the students:
- are acquainted with the method of case work and its use in social work;
- have an overview of approaches to social assessment;
- are able to reflect upon their own cases;
- are able to work with self-reflection;
- have enhanced their competences in the area of diagnostics.
