Course objectives
The aim of the present cycle of lectures is to introduce students to effective strategies in pursuing their studies at the university level, to guide them to the most important printed and electronic resources they will have to consult during their studies, to provide them with a basic overview of the content of the different courses within the bachelor programs conducted by the department of German language and literature, as well as to assist them in understanding how the study programs are organized.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the cycle the students are able to:
  • name the different scientific fields which contribute to the study of German as a foreign language
  • identify the content of the different courses offered at the department of German language and literature
  • understand the basic terminology used in linguistics, literature studies and foreign language teaching and to explain the basic concepts in their own words
  • relate central concepts to the appropriate scientific field to which they belong
  • describe the aims of the different disciplines taught within the study programs at the department of German language and literature and to evaluate their contribution to foreign language teaching

    • 1. module: The study of German language and literature at the Pedagogical faculty of the MU
    • ● The aim of studying German language and literature at the university level and the organization of the study program at the PdF MU

    • 2. module: The didactics of German as a foreign language and intercultural communication

    • ● What is “literature” and for what aims it is studied as part of the bachelor programs conducted at the department of German language and literature?

    • 4. module: Linguistics
    • ● The place of philology among the other scientific disciplines; the object of science of language and the internal organization of language on different levels
