Course objectives
The aim of this course is to understand texts as complex elements of the language; to write, describe, categorize and set up criterias for good texts; to identify text functions and to transfere this knowledge into German language teaching at Czech schools.
Learning outcomes
Through the active learnig the students should gain a broad overview of the problem of text literacy. After completing the course, they should know how to enhance text literacy in foreign language teaching.
Syllabus
  • 1) CEFR and the text competence; "Profile Deutsch" and teh text competence

    2) Text competence in other sources dealing with language teaching

    3) Strucures of relevant text types (e.g. IMRAD, AIDA, 6-Ws) 4) Designs promoting the text competence ("Das drei-Phasen-Modell" by Schmölzer-Eibinger; "Die fünf-Gang (Schritt)-Lesetechnik": description and relevance)

    5) Scholarly texts and the text competence

    6) Text competence and the language mediation

    7) How to enhance and examine the text competence
