Course objectives
The goal of the course is to provide basic knowledge about the syntax of the Russian language. The attention is focused on the construction of simple sentences one member and two member plan comparison Russian-Czech.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course the student will be able to describe the syntactic system of contemporary Russian; to explain the differences in the structure of simple sentences in Russian and English; to apply the knowledge practically.
Syllabus
  • The subject of syntax. Syntactical units and their relations in sentence. Classification. Simple sentence. Complex and compound sentence. One-element and two-element sentences (minor and major clauses). SV sentence and SVOC sentence. One-element sentences. Main sentence elements. Nominative and its formulation. Formulation of predicate. Attributive predicate. Apposition. Object. Direct and indirect object. Complement. Adverbials and modes of expression. Separating parts of sentences. Multiple sentence elements. Contruction of simple sentences in Russian compared with Czech language.

Teaching methods
Lecture. Regular preparing for lessons. Listenting and reading of Russian texts.
Assessment methods
Written final test (study material from all semester, linguistic terminology, syntactical analysis). 75% of correct answers is needed to pass.
