Course objectives
Learning outcomes of the course unit The aim of the course is to deepen knowledge of basic theoretical rules and principles of floristry and floral arrangement. Emphasis is placed on gaining practical experience from individual floristic disciplines, as well as using non-traditional materials and ways of their processing.
Learning outcomes
Student will be able to:
- learn how to navigate in aids and materials used in floristry and floral arranging;
- to learn to prepare plant material and to treat floral work or decoration;
- apply your creativity in the final work;
- apply compositional principles and rules in practice; - to choose and apply the appropriate technique of creating a floral work or decoration;
- knowledge of plant, technical and decorative material by appropriate selection.
Syllabus
  • 1st introduction to floristry and basics of arranging.
  • 2. Basic concepts, work with dried material. Dried plants, fruits, inflorescences and other materials give us a great deal of creative work in floristry, durability and diversity, and we invite you to make various adjustments to interesting arrangements for apartments and interiors.
  • 3rd decoration of containers - pruned arrangements in the concept of floristic design. Basic processing of plant material, principles of working with arranging material, show of basic styles, observance of aesthetic patterns.
  • 4. Arranging the picture frame, frame, a tree of dried plant material. - floristry at the time of souls - creative funeral floristry.
  • 5. Advent wreath as a traditional advent decoration. Types of advent wreaths, techniques of elaboration, possibilities of decoration. Inspiration for Christmas interior decoration. Advent habits and trends.
  • 6. pruned candlesticks, techniques of elaboration, proportions, arrangement, choice of material and color, basic principles of their decoration. Christmas customs and traditions.
  • 7th excursion - SZŠ Rajhrad (by train).
