- Course objectives
- The course focuses on the history and development of Russian literature for children and young people from the beginning to the present, focusing on its main leaders and key works. Important is identifying the individual author´s style, overview in the most famous writers, key developmental and ideological transformations of Russian literature for children and youth, its practical and theoretical understanding, recognizing individual genres, genre variants and their specifics.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of the course students understand the specifics of literature for children and youth; understand the basic terminology (intentional and non-intentional literature); they have an overview in the development of Russian literature for children and youth and in its periodization; they know the difference between folklore and literature for children and youth; interpret and analyze works of Russian literature for children and youth; they are able to approach to them critically; they work with primary Russian literature for children and youth in the preparation for own lessons.

- 1.Periodization of Russian children's literature. Definition, function. Intentional, nonintentional literature. The importance and role of folklore in children's literature 2. History of the formation of children's literature in Russia. History of children's literature in the first half of the 19th century. 3. History of children's literature in the second half of the 19th century. 4. Children's literature at the beginning of the 20th century. Discussion about children's literature. 5. Poetry for children in the 1st half of the 20th century 6. Children's literature in the second half of the 20th century 7. Poetry for children in the second half of the 20th century 8. Fairy tale. Folk and authorial. Genres. Development. Main representatives. 9. Humor and nonsense in children's literature. 10. Children's adventure fiction in Russia. 11. Children's literature in the 21st century 12. Russian translations of foreign works
