Course objectives
The aim of the subject is to familiarize students with the subject, its incorporation into system of sciences about education and its mean by the study of social-pedagogy phenomena.
Learning outcomes
Students will be able to understand the subject. Students will be able to discuss the topic. Students will be able to define social pedagogy.
Syllabus
  • Social pedagogy and its place in the system of sciences about education (relation to general pedagogy, theory of education, etc.). The subject of social pedagogy. The realtion of social pedagogy and religion pedagogy. The theory of sociology and social pedagogy, the comparison of approach. The paradigms (T. Kuhn) sociological and social pedagogical (factaulistic, behavioral, definitional - differences in the approach of the investigation of social phenomena). The selected sociological directions and their influence on the creation of the theory of social pedagogy (social darwinism, theory of social interaction, etc.). The character of the present konsensual societies, the civil open society as the direction toward social balance. the role of mechanisms of social balance by the maintenance of social homeostasis. The society as the dramaturgically and existencialistic sociology. Sociological approaches of the investigation of phenomena: Qualitatice sociology, etnomethodology, dailiness - social theory of treatment (A.Schütze, labelling etc.). The roots of the creation of social pedagogy, movement of pietists and filanthropists, legacy of KOmensky and Pestalozzi to social pedagogy, the role of german pedagogists (Diesterweg, Nastorp, Lindnerm Klika, Černý, etc.). The oponions of Kadner on the social pedagogy. The social pedagogy and first republic. The relations of social pedagogy, pedagogical sociology and sociology of education. The approaches of Masaryk, Velinsky, Chlup, Uher, etc. The social pedagogy in Czechoslovakia after second world war. The approaches of Gally, Pradka , Balaz, etc. The development of social pedagogy after 1989. The distribution of the conception of social pedagogy: a) primary conception - the education toward social aims, b) secondary conception - prevention pf social deviation, c) tertiary conception - keeping, isolation and punishments as the last possibilities.

Assessment methods
At the end of semester students will be orient in the basic philosophical, sociological and pedagogical backrounds od social pedagogy. In the discussion the students sustain knowledge of present conceptions of social pedagogy in local conditions and in european countries. Students create study (10 - 15 pages), where they show the ability to science discussion and argumentation, thw work with science sources in the field of social pedagogy. The topic of study is previosly consulted with the teacher.
